Regenerative Sports Medicine

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP/ACP)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a natural regenerative medicine therapy that we offer for the treatment and management of osteoarthritis in joints or for the treatment of soft tissue injuries such as flexor tendons or suspensory ligament injuries.

Blood is pulled from the patient themselves and processed to concentrate their own platelets.  This is then injected into the injured site.  Platelets have tissue growth factors which improve the quality of joint or tissue healing.  PRP is often combined with our shockwave therapy.

IRAP

Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Protein (IRAP) is a protein produced by the horse’s own blood that works by binding a protein that causes inflammation within the joints.  IRAP is a natural joint therapy that is therefore used to reduce inflammation within a joint.  Just like PRP, the horse’s own blood is drawn and the IRAP protein is concentrated to be injected back into the patient.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy enhances circulation to the area and causes local release of growth factors which promote healing and tissue remodeling. It has been very successful for treating suspensory ligament injuries, tendon injuries, back pain, joint disease, ringbone, splints and much more.

Stem Cell Therapy

Stem Cell Therapy is a regenerative therapy used to treat injuries including but not limited to joint, tendon, ligament, cartilage injuries. The patient’s own stem cells are collected from either fat or bone marrow, processed and then re-introduced into the injury site. They provide framework, growth factors, and signalling proteins to help repair and heal the site as strong and efficiently as possible.
